This is an easy one – ABSOLUTELY! Everyone is on some sort of social media…except Coventry, CT (sad to say). Today is the perfect example – CT is reeling from a one two punch of winter weather: yesterday, we were hit with a snow storm that gave us an additional 6″ (to our already accumulated 2+ feet) and then last night we were hit with an ice storm. Typical CT…but a lot of questions remain unanswered. Thursday is typically our garbage and recycling day – are they coming tomorrow? That could easily have been answered on Facebook or Twitter.
A few weeks ago, I was on a call with a relative in NY and all of a sudden my phone went dead. Want to know why? Because our town put out a reverse 911 call – just to let us know there is a parking ban and garbage is extended another day. Something that could have been covered on Facebook or Twitter.
I just became Facebook friends with my kids’ pediatricians’ office. How cool is that? They post when the office is closed early due to weather, when they’re open, when they’re on call, and even some little helpful reminders. I think the town should follow suite!
